Our Team

Our team is made up of extremely capable and committed people. Although we are a non-profit organisation, Noah is run like a business. Each staff member has a specific job description and measurable goals to work toward.

Thorin Roberts (CEO)

Thorin has several years of Senior Management experience in a leading KwaZulu-Natal ECD (Early Childhood Development) NGO called TREE. During this time he had the opportunity to work with a wide range of social development and child centred organisations and actors. He has completed a Master’s Degree in Population Studies, has conducted extensive research and holds valuable insight, having published social research articles in a peer reviewed academic journal, and a chapter in a book. In addition, he will complete his MBA in 2013. He has studied postgraduate modules on research methods at the Population Studies Centre at the University of Michigan; as well as a postgraduate module on Humanitarian Operations and Logistics at the Copenhagen Business School. Amongst other work experience, he lectured Sociology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal for several years and has conducted research consultancy for Richards Bay Minerals.

Yolandi Erasmus (CFO)

Yolandi Erasmus is a qualified Chartered Accountant who joined  Noah after being in the Assurance Industry for over four years. She joined Ernst & Young in 2008 and during this time she was responsible for the management and delivery of the Durban not for profit and donor funded entities, universities as well as clients in the retail, manufacturing and shipping industries. During this time Yolandi was able to establish herself as the donor funded specialist in KwaZulu-Natal, increasing her experience with not for profit and USAID funded organisations. Joining Noah has provided Yolandi with the opportunity to add value to a cause which she feels very strongly about.

   Rachel Compaan (Manager: Programmes Development)

Rachel is a qualified social worker with more than 20 years experience with children who have suffered trauma. She joined Noah in May 2007 and has been an invaluable asset as we have built our OVC activities including peer education, computer literacy, Early Childhood Development, community outreach and bereavement counselling.

 Katie Andrews (Manager: Relationship and Communication)


Katie joined Noah after several years in the Events and then Telecoms industry, where her primary focus was sales.  This experience is a great addition to the Noah team as we strive to leverage funding to continue to make a difference in the lives of Orphaned and Vulnerable children. Katie has strong relationship and administrative skills.  She is extremely passionate about South Africa and the fact that we need to pull together to secure a sustainable future for all, especially for our children. Noah’s vision is one that she feels connected with and is constantly inspired by.  She is in the process of completing her LL.B through UNISA.

Nathi Mabaso (HR Generalist)

Nathi Mabaso
Nathi Mabaso joined Noah in January 2005 as a Training Coordinator. He was one of the first members of the Human Resources Department when it was established in 2007. Nathi holds  a Diploma in Human Resource Management and B-Tech from Durban University of Technology. He is committed to making the world a better place and plays an important role in motivating and encouraging our staff, to ensure that they are comfortable and also work towards realizing Noah`s vision. Nathi is the Human ResourcesManager.

Irene Chetty (Liaison Officer)


Irene joined Noah in May 2012, bringing with her more than 15 years of experience in the NGO sector.  She has a B.Proc degree and also a Masters degree in law.  Irene has vast experience working in the development field and with government.  She has worked both nationally and internationally in the areas of social justice, HIV/AIDS, human rights and advocacy.  Irene considers herself to be a visionary leader and aspires to standards of excellence in all that she does.
